Simply put, a great mix. Virtual Boy has quite the distinctive sound, really akin to the name, it’s a retro video game vibe mixed with modern electro. This mix has it all and more, a lot of variety, good pacing, and a great sound. Best of all, it is a free mix with a lot of music, over 30 minutes worth. Enjoy!

Another big track from a huge artist in the genre, sampling an even bigger artist in another genre… sounds good already, before you even press play. Luckily the music is as well done as the hype for this song should demand it be. It is a different track to be sure, but if you enjoyed Derek’s interpretation of NIN vs. Nirvana vs. Radiohead, than this track should be right up your alley.
Pretty heavy track coming from Phrenik, great use of vocals, although I felt that the synth was a bit overused at times, the track is still quality, figured some of you might enjoy this one. Make sure you support Phrenik on his page and on Beatport if you enjoy his tracks!

How have I not posted this one yet? Anyway, problem solved now. Not much to say other than this remix will make your bass put in some work, looking forward to when Big Gigantic drops the “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” remix, hopefully soon. Enjoy!

I haven’t been able to get a hold of Dalvee, but I was looking to post another submission and someone submitted this on his behalf, and let’s just say that when I read the title I was doubtful… but ended up being pretty surprised, this is catchy and includes all of the appropriate dubstep elements without being ridiculous. I know some people might think it too close to the original, or lacking a “sick drop”, but I found myself nodding my head as is, so nice work, enjoy!
I went over how dubstep can be a tough genre to succeed/stand out in, and I’d have to add that it is even more difficult with a hip-hop mashup, as everyone seems to do them and sometimes they come out… well, shitty. This however, succeeds in what it sets out to accomplish, which is being an easy to jam to party mix of a popular track, so I’m glad to feature it here and hope to hear more good stuff by the artist, KillaGraham.
New track by Bassnectar off of an upcoming release called “Divergent Spectrum”, released for free for a short time only to Bassnectar’s newsletter subscribers. Definitely a solid start and release for the new album, has a decidedly straightforward sound, I sort of wish a bit more original released was pushed for this new set of tracks, but a solid single nonetheless. Since this track is only available for free via the newsletter, I can’t share a direct link, but I will message you the link if you follow me on Twitter (you can unfollow afterwards) and I will also give you the link to submit your email and join Bassnectar’s newsletter.

Dubstep can be a genre, when done poorly, is incredibly bad, and I feel that it is this aspect that sometimes leads people away from exploring dubstep as a genre: early on they have the misfortune of being exposed to really bad dubstep. Luckily Monty does not fall into said category.
Something a little different from the usual, but I thought Omega put forth a great effort on this track, and I definitely love the sample (10 points to Slytherin if you can name it). The build up is nice, and although it doesn’t have a traditional drop, the pacing of the song was excellent, although certain sections got a little repetitive in my opinion. Overall, a solid track and I think that you’ll enjoy it.
A few of you might not get the picture, if not, it’s because the sample is this song is originally from a SNES game called ‘Killer Instinct’, besides that, this is a great track all around, and I figured I had to share. Originally meant to be an official release, this was released for free due to copyright clearance issues (the sample from Killer Instinct perhaps being one of them). So you get to grab it for free, as well as two other tracks on SoundCloud, link as always is below.
